CABA After 5, James Loper’s Remarks – May 1st 2017

James Loper

James Loper

Carrollwood Handout

“Good evening friends,

I am James Loper, past president and current director of the Carrollwood Bar Association, CBA.
Attorney in private practice since 1975, 42 years.
CBA member since 2001, 16 years.
Since this is Friendship Week, here is some friendly advice based on my experience:

CBA’s blue flyer contains valuable information:

1. CBA’s website, which has more information.
2. Specialties of CBA attorneys.
3. Reminder that CBA attorneys are “Attorneys Where You Live”, or work.
4. List of 4 CBA programs that improve the quality of legal services provided by CBA attorneys.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, as proof, here are two examples:

1.CBA’s LIST SERVE. Although a probate/inheritance question, a CBA domestic relations attorney responded with valuable information. As a result, a retired Hillsborough County firefighter received $50,000 from the probate estate of his non-biological father, with nominal time in nominal fees on my part.

2.CBA MEMBER FRIENDS. An ARMY GENERAL called when his mother had title insurance problems when applying for reverse mortgage. Mother needed money for herself and for the family of a recently deceased younger son. The ARMY GENERAL, who lived in Citrus County, wanted to meet late the next morning. Since I didn’t understand the language in Mom’s current life estate deed, I called a CBA real estate attorney, who understood this new type of deed, who met with the Army General after lunch the same day, and handled the closing and title insurance, such that Mom received the reverse money mortgage the following week. It was not necessary to probate the estate of the deceased son or obtain permission from the deceased son’s personal representative to mortgage Mom’s property. The ARMY GENERAL sent a letter thanking us for our service.

Like ARMY STRONG, WE ARE CBA STRONG!

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, since many of my friends have:

1.Made CBA a valuable association.
2. Helped put together this blue flyer.
3. Contributed in the preparation of this CABA event,

I ask you, as a friend, that you return a favorable verdict for the Carrollwood Bar Association by taking the CBA blue flyer and the magnetized alligator clip as you leave; and save it, including electronically, for when you, or family member or a friend will need a qualified attorney.

THANK YOU FRIENDS!!!!!”
